Detection of non-metallic pipes

Detection of non-metallic pipes
It is difficult to locate drinking water pipes when the pipe material is not conducting electricity. To locate pipes made of asbestos cement, PE and PVC nevertheless, we use the wave-impulse method where a generator transfers acoustic waves to the pipe. Depending on size and material and soil those waves expand on the pipe and can be heard with a microphone on the surface. This allows an exact detection of the pipe way. The radius of the acoustic sound depends on the depth, soil and pipe material, and can also be used on metal pipes and tyton sockets. Even if an electrical detection due to electrical interference canít be done, the radius on metallic pipes is higher.
